Wood is a living material. It responds to its surroundings, adapts with the seasons, and gracefully matures over time. Gentle shifts, fine lines near knots, and small surface cracks are not flaws. They are the natural expression of real wood in motion. At Zoya Home, we embrace these changes as part of the story. They bring depth, authenticity, and quiet beauty to every piece you welcome into your home.
Note: Pieces with natural cracking are not eligible for return beyond our 14-day policy.
Help It Age Gracefully
While you can’t stop nature, you can help guide it. Here are a few ways to care for your piece and keep it glowing through the years:
-
Oil with care
Every few months, apply a mineral-based wood oil to nourish the surface and maintain the wood’s natural moisture. In drier months, especially winter, your piece may appreciate a little extra attention. -
Dust with kindness
Use a soft microfiber cloth to remove dust. Avoid dry dusting to prevent fine scratches. -
Clean thoughtfully
Use a slightly damp cloth with mild, unscented soap or dedicated wood oil. Avoid alcohol or strong chemicals. Spills should be blotted immediately with a clean, absorbent cloth — don’t rub, just pat gently. -
Mind the heat
Keep your piece away from radiators or strong sun. If near a window, use curtains or blinds to minimize exposure. -
Balance the air
Try to keep indoor humidity between 40% and 45%. Too dry may cause cracking, while excess moisture can lead to swelling. A small humidifier or dehumidifier can go a long way in helping your piece stay steady and stunning. -
Keep It Steady
As your furniture settles, some hardware may naturally loosen. We recommend checking and tightening all connections from time to time to keep everything secure and lasting.
